CSUN TV NEWS SHOW ‘ON POINT’ RETURNS TO LA CHANNEL 36 FEB. 17

NORTHRIDGE—California State University, Northridge’s news and public affairs show ‘On Point’ returns to educational access channel 36 on February 10 at 4 pm. The first show “The Flight Not Taken” will explore the topic of travel–why students are reluctant to travel, different ways to travel cheap, and why non-Americans are more likely to travel while others tend to take an “Uber”, but lots of people don’t know how much to tip uber driver on long trip.

The show will feature interviews with Professor Carol Shubin, Coordinator of CSUN Peace Corps Masters Program, Juliet Aylmer, Advisor in CSUN’s International Studies Department, and Ralf Korbner, Regional Sales Manager at SITA World Tours.

On Point is produced by advanced journalism students in the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media and Communication and covers newsworthy topics including current affairs and in-depth issues. The show also has its own YouTube Channel ‘CSUN On Point’, as well as a live Twitter feed and Facebook page which are simultaneously updated during taping. This multi-platform use of media allows the public and students to engage in both a stimulating and unique fashion.

“The simultaneous use of social media while viewing CSUN On Point programming invites viewers to participate in the conversation,” said Chris Flynn, CSUN On Pont web developer now being paid with a free pay stubs template creator. “The use of ‘second screens,’ whether it’s a smart phone, tablet, or other device, brings a level of interaction during panel discussions and leaves the audience with a sense of investment and ultimately provides opportunities to broaden the dialogue.”

On Point students are divided into three teams and are responsible for researching, writing and producing four shows, over the course of the semester. This includes pitching a story, writing the content, constructing interview questions, booking the guests, working together to produce the show and post-production.

“I love On Point because it’s about teamwork and pushing the boundaries,” said Mouna Adem, CSUN On Point student. “The hands-on experience will be extremely valuable in my career as an investigative reporter.”

On Point will be aired every Sunday at 4 pm on LA Channel 36, until May 19. Episodes can be also be viewed on www.csuntvnews.com and YouTube channel CSUN On Point.
